The 3D Transistor and Shanghai Part 1

I came across the following video quite a while back but I just didn’t get round to writing anything about it, but either way I wanted to share it. It’s an old video but very relevant to the Analogue Tutorials.

This video talks about 3D transistors (as opposed to the 2D transistors that we are currently used to). It’s an incredibly interesting video to watch, especially as it has a lot to do with the future of technology.

Shanghai

So what are we doing otherwise? Well we’ve just arrived in Shanghai :) We’re visiting purely for holiday purposes but figured we’d do what any geeks would do whilst here and that’s visit the famous Chinese Electronics Markets. I visited Bejing a few years ago and was lucky enough to find one there. It was a hobbyists paradise and I can’t wait to visit one again tomorrow (pictures to follow of course). For now let’s just look at the wonders of Shanghai since we got here…

Starbucks

Starbucks

Apparently no matter where you go in the world, there’ll always be a Starbucks (even if it is in an old temple).

Chinese Pound Shops

We also managed to find the Chinese equivalent of a pound shop; they call them 10¥ shops (the currency being Chinese Yuan).

In the meantime, watch this space for the next post after we’ve toured around the electronics markets…
